About
Amit Kothari
AI & Operations consultant helping mid-size companies (50-500 employees) identify, plan and execute where AI delivers real benefits. I cut through vendor noise and show you what actually works.
Professional background
I am a CTO who codes but speaks human. I guide operations leaders to AI that matters, not what is possible. With 25+ years of experience in technology, entrepreneurship, and operations, I bring a practical, no-nonsense approach to AI implementation.
I founded Tallyfy, a workflow automation platform, building it from scratch and raising $3.6m. Running most of our operations with AI has given me firsthand knowledge of where it fails, where it works, and why.
I currently serve as Entrepreneur in Residence at the Skandalaris Center at Washington University in St. Louis, and as faculty at OneDay, teaching MBA students about lean operations, automation, and effective AI use.
Originally British, I now live in St. Louis, Missouri. Outside work, I write poetry - my book Iron is available on Amazon - and I have a deep intuition for UI/UX and user behavior.
25+ years of experience - forged by hard graft, fierce will, and relentless creativity

What students and mentees say
From MBA students, postdoctoral researchers, and business school faculty
"Amit was my mentor and teacher during my MBA process. I felt like I was decent with AI at the time- but Amit completely transformed how I think about using AI. He explains complex concepts in an easy to understand manner. He is creative in his thinking with practical outcomes. He was also able to help me one on one which was very productive. Highly recommend working with him and just all around great human!

"I had the wonderful opportunity to benefit from Amit's mentorship at the Skandalaris Center for Entrepreneurship at WashU. Speaking with him was mind-blowing and deeply inspiring, and it gave me new insights while opening fresh and original perspectives for my project. Amit shared many great ideas, as well as a full range of practical advice (spanning from customer discovery, problem solving, to AI...) and actionable tips on how to implement them effectively. He was extremely generous with his time, fully committed, and truly dedicated to his mission as both a mentor and a role model.
